Second preseason match and a serious test for Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, who played against a more prepared and stronger Olympique Lyonnais side, but secured a draw thanks to goals from Morata and Casemiro. The Whites’ forward spoke after the match and mentioned why he took the penalty: "I felt confident and that’s why I took it. This was a match to help with the preseason preparations and to keep picking up the pace".

Morata, aware that there is still a lot of work to do, said: "In the upcoming matches we will try harder to take our chances. We wanted to win, it could be seen that we played with the right attitude. This was a match to help with the preseason preparations and to keep picking up the pace; we managed to get the draw at the end. Our coach always asks for the same: that we take care of the ball and want to do great things. We started really keenly in the second half, we cannot give away any match being Real Madrid, and we showed a good attitude and could have won". When asked about the decision that he would take the penalty, the ex-academy player did not make a big deal of it: "These things are decided on the field. I felt confident and that’s why I took it".

The player also spoke about how his new teammates are adapting and their good performances. "We have just got back from our holidays because of playing the Europeans; it is clear that we still have to pick up some fitness but the new players are showing how good they are in every training session and every match". Morata did not miss the opportunity to talk about the possible arrival of a new forward: "We have Karim, Jese and me. We can play well together; signing someone else is a club decision". Finally, he showed support towards the victims of the train accident in Santiago de Compostela and said: "We are sad. It is not a good day to talk about football".
