It was the best kept secret at Real Madrid's General Assembly, the jewel in the crown, the surprise that Florentino Pérez had prepared to amaze his members. The four projects competing for the remodelling of the Santiago Bernabéu were showcased at the club's members meeting.<br />
<br />
The four models of the stadium had been closely guarded and only a few people had been able to see them before Sunday's presentation. Nobody had been able to photograph them as it was forbidden to enter the room they were stored in with cameras or mobile phones.<br />
<br />
The four prestigious architectural firms competing for the project are Amela-Populous, Moneo-Herzog & De Meuron, Norman Foster-Rafael de Lahoz and GMT Architekten-L35-Ribas.<br />
<br />
"Every year we fight for our club's individualism and we work harder for this every day. Right now, our goal is to improve the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and our training facilities. We want them both to be iconic pieces of architecture", Florentino Pérez told club members.<br />
<br />
"All four projects are spectacularly ambitious, each seeking architectural improvements to the stadium and, if possible greater capacity. We want our stadium to be one of the most emblematic buildings in Madrid and in the world", he said.<br />

The new Bernabeu Tour is now a reality. The museum, now much more modern, interactive, and audiovisual, includes two new rooms: the ‘Best Club in History’ and an area in honor of Alfredo Di Stefano. Open to the public for 363 days and with close to a million visitors, the Bernabeu Tour is one of the city’s main tourist attractions, and it receives visitors from all kinds of countries. In this way, Real Madrid continues with its commitment to continual improvement and renovation and takes another step with this project to bring its trademark, history, tradition, and values closer to fans all over the world.<br />
<br />
The two new rooms are part of a Bernabeu Tour modernization plan that seeks to enrich the visitor’s experience by providing greater interactivity and audiovisual content. The museum also has very technologically advanced facilities and a vanguard and innovative design. Each one of the remodeled areas includes interactive solutions with the latest technology applied to the club’s history.<br />
<br />
The revitalization of the Real Madrid Foundation’s Heritage Center collection, consisting of more than 100,000 objects, documents, and trophies, should also be emphasized. A representative sample with objects made public for the first time has been included in the new Bernabeu Tour.<br />

<b><u>“Best Club in History” interactive room</u></b><br />
 The new ‘Best Club in History’ room offers an unbeatable audiovisual and interactive experience and leads the visitor through the history of Real Madrid, its list of achievements, players, trophies, symbols, and the great events that have made Real Madrid the only club to have achieved the trophy for the Best Club of the 20th century.<br />
<br />
It is this trophy, in a special display case, that overlooks the room, which includes two large audiovisual areas that are more than 60 meters long with 70 high-definition monitors. A 100-meter gallery of display cases also includes the largest collection on display until now, consisting of more than 250 objects and trophies.<br />
<br />
It also includes interactive multi-touch technology, with more than 1,000 graphic documents and videos, many of them unpublished, bringing back the memory of the great moments of Real Madrid and allowing for double navigation through the achievements and history in both Spanish and English.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Area in Honor of Alfredo Di Stefano</u></b><br />
The visitor will enjoy the collection of Alfredo Di Stefano’s personal objects and trophies, never before on display, donated by the Real Madrid Foundation’s Heritage Center. Animated 3-D audiovisuals of the most emblematic plays can also be seen, as well as testimonies of the best players of all time and a large interactive mural, made up of high-definition screens, that makes it possible to delve into the most relevant moments of the personal and sporting life of the honorary president of Real Madrid<br />

According to ABC, Los Blancos will not entertain the idea of removing the name of their legendary club president from the stadium. However, they are not against it being preceded by a corporate sponsor.</div><br />
Consequently, Emirates, who recently agreed a five-year shirt sponsorship deal with Madrid, are now offering to hand over an additional €53 million per season to change the name of one of the most famous grounds in world football to 'Fly-Emirates-Bernabeu'.<br />
<br />
As things already stand, the Dubai-based airline, who are currently in possession of the naming rights for Arsenal's stadium, will have their company logo displayed on the capital club's shirts from 2013 onwards.<br />
<br />
The Santiago Bernabeu was opened in 1947 and, following expansion in 2011, now has a capacity of 85,454.
