Portuguese left-back, Fabio Coentrão is hoping Real Madrid will allow him to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this January, after the 25-year-old has failed to see consistent minutes this season.
Coentrão appeared to be headed to Manchester United at the close of last summer’s transfer window, but his replacement, Granada’s Guilherme Siqueira joined Portuguese side, Benfica instead, forcing Real Madrid to back out of negotiations.
However, Spanish sports daily, AS is reporting that the defender, who has just recently rejoined the team after being out since mid-November with a torn hamstring, is looking to leave the club to boost his chances of making it to and being fully fit for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

There is no lack of suitors for the moody defender, as Manchester United are still interested and lead the pack of teams that have made enquiries into the player’s availability in recent weeks.
Italian Serie A side, AC Milan are also rumoured to be interested in saving Coentrão from his back-up role behind Marcelo.
