Xabi Alonso Liverpool return
LIVERPOOL are planning to snap up Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso on a free transfer in 2014.
Both the Anfield outfit and Italian side Fiorentina want sign up the midfielder after his current deal runs out with the La Liga giants.
The 31-year-old is thought to have rejected a new contract with Madrid and will actively seek to move back to the Premier League next season.
But according to new reports in Italy, the Viola will attempt to lure Alonso to Serie A, with a handsome contract.
Alonso has been in Spain since 2009, after signing with Madrid in a deal worth £30m.
Fiorentina will feel confident they can persuade the star, after he told journalists recently about not wanting to move to England this summer.
He said: "The Premier League? No.
Before adding: "No way, no chance."
