Real Madrid begin their tour of the United States of America today. The Whites return to UCLA for the fourth consecutive year to finalise preparations for the start of official competition. At around midday the team coached by Carlo Ancelotti will fly to the USA, where they will play four friendlies, three of which will in the International Champions Cup. The Real Madrid touring party will return Spain on 11th August.
Real Madrid will hold the preseason training camp on the UCLA’s campus (Los Angeles) for the fourth consecutive year. In addition to this city, the Whites will visit Phoenix, Miami and Saint Louis to play four matches, the first three of which will form part of the International Champions Cup. The first match will be on 1st August against Los Angeles Galaxy (04:30 CET on 2nd August), in a match that is becoming a tradition, having been played during the last three preseasons, in the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Two days later, on 3rd August, Real Madrid will have a tough test (02:00 CET on 4th August). They will play against either Juventus or Everton in Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles. The Italian team won their domestic league by a distance, while the English team are beginning a new era following David Moyes’ departure to Manchester United and the arrival of Spaniard Roberto Martinez on the bench.
The third match will be played on 6th or 7th August at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami but the opponent is not yet confirmed. It depends on results throughout the tournament. It will also be the first time that the Whites play in Miami. The same goes for Saint Louis, where they will play the final match of the preseason on 10th August (20:00 CET) against Inter Milan, at the Edward Jones Dome.
