Beckham: "I have a lot of respect for Barcelona, but I hope Madrid wins"

David Beckham was one of the guests of honour who attended the launch of Time Warner's new sports channel, Time Warner Sports, in Los Angeles. The American channel has decided to follow the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player's team, Los Angeles Galaxy, in particular, broadcasting all of its Major League Soccer (MLS) matches to the whole state of California.

"I love the Spanish league, its something I can't forget. I played there for four years with a lot of success with real Madrid, one of the biggest clubs in the world and I also spent some very happy years there from a personal point of view", Beckham commented.

Another 'Clasico' between Barcelona and Real Madrid is just round the corner, an event for which Beckham has played a starring role in the past: "The rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona is just incredible; it's just as big as that between Manchester United and Liverpool or Manchester United and Manchester City. They are really special games and I can't wait to watch it".

The English international ended by saying: "I obviously want and expect Real Madrid to win. I was with them for several years. But I say this with all due respect to Barcelona, of course."
