Mesut Ozil has denied allegations that he is overindulging in the city’s nightlife.

Coach Jose Mourinho claimed last week that a number of his players don’t appear to have football as their number one priority and it seems that Ozil is one of those players. Speaking on Spanish TV programme Futboleros on Monday night Eduardo Inda, the editor of Spanish sporting daily newspaper Marca, which has close ties with the Bernabeu, claimed that there are concerns amongst the club’s hierarchy about Ozil’s lifestyle.

The concerns aren’t new. Last December, Mourinho took Ozil to one side to express his concerns over his partying after revelations appeared in the Barcelona-based paper El Mundo Deportivo. Mourinho informed Ozil that he saw him as a key component in Real’s push for the La Liga title and while their little tete-a-tete worked in that Real ended the season as champions, concerns have resurfaced with Inda’s allegation this week.

However, Ozil has taken to his Facebook page to deny allegations that he is living the high life:

“As for the rumor that frequently go out at night: Not true!” he said. “Since the football season began I have hardly ever gone out. I train and work professionally. ”

Ozil finds his position in the side under threat from new signing Luka Modric and has already been substituted by Mourinho on three occasions this season as his Croatian rival beds into the side following his arrival from Tottenham at the end of last month.
