Zinedine Zidane is about to enter the world of football as a coach. After a celebrated career as a football player, the legendary French midfielder Zinedine Zidane has decided to step his foot on the field once again, but this time as a manager.
This news has also been confirmed by the Spanish football giants Real Madrid. The La Liga winners from last season made this announcement through a club statement on Monday. An official statement on the Real Madrid website informed that Zinedine Zidane was going to coach one of youth teams in the club after he receives his coaching qualifications.
The 40-year-old former Real Madrid midfielder, who retired in 2006, had previously hinted desire to enter football as a manager. Last year, Zinedine Zidane enrolled in the same coaching university as the former coach of France Laurent Blanc.
According to reports, Zinedine Zidane is about to receive his certifications to become a coach. Ever since Zinedine Zidane hung up his boots on the wall, the former Juventus midfielder has working as a special advisor to the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and coach Jose Mourinho.
Now, Zinedine Zidane is expected to hold the same position as Jose Mourinho, but with the youth academy of Real Madrid.
“Zinedine Zidane will begin training to become a coach, while at the same time coach Real Madrid's youth academy,” a statement on Real Madrid’s official website said. “This year he will also complete his team-management qualification, which he started a few months ago.
“That will allow him to formalise his knowledge and training, which will enable him to fulfil an aspiration that he made public in the press conference in which he announced his retirement as a player in April 2006 - to work with Real Madrid's youth academy.”
Zinedine Zidane will replace Alberto Giraldez to become the new head of Real Madrid’s youth academy. Earlier, the president of France Football Federation (FFF) Noel Le Graet declared that Zinedine Zidane wanted to coach France in the future.
Noel Le Graet is looking for a long term replacement for Laurent Blanc, which means Zinedine Zidane could actually become coach of France in the future. For now, former Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is taking care of France.
