Real Madrid, the second most valuable club on the Forbes list
Out of the fifty most valuable clubs in the world, Manchester United hold top position in the ranking, with 2.23 billion dollars, 18 percent more than Real Madrid, who have moved up three positions to second with a value of 1.88 billion dollars. The study, carried out by the US magazine Forbes, also reflects the domination of the 32 NFL clubs, all present on the list.
United, despite letting the league title slip away on the last day of the season, still hold the privileged position of being the richest club in the world, according to the Forbes magazine. The English club, owned by the Glazer family, went from being valued at 1.86 billion dollars last year to 2.23 billion this campaign.
The second position is occupied by Real Madrid, valued at 1.88 billion dollars, while Barcelona have climbed 18 positions to take eighth place, with a value of 1.31 billion. The podium is completed with the New York Yankees from Major League Baseball, with 1.85 billion dollars.
Together with United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal complete the top 10 of the richest football teams in the world. However, the NFL is the most valuable as its 32 franchises make the top 50, which is explained, in part, by the significant TV revenues it receives and the lower maximum salaries of its players.
It is worth noting that there are only two teams from the NBA, the New York Knicks (43) and LA Lakers (35), who climbed three places due to their TV contract with Time Warner Cable.
The Formula 1 team Ferrari also feature, growing three percent in the last year, which, in part, is down to its sponsorship deal with Banco Santander.
